Michelle Cheong

Michelle began music at the young, tender age of 3 in Yamaha’s Junior Music Course program learning the piano. She soon moved on to the ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal School of Music) syllabus a few years later and completed her Grade 8 in Piano and Theory of Music at the age of 14. At around the same time of finishing her piano, she picked up the violin with gusto, finishing her ATCL (Associate) Recital Diploma in a matter of a few years. Michelle continued to pursue her musical studies in the Malaysian Institute of Art and was awarded the Best Student Award and Certificates of Distinction when she graduated with a Diploma in Music in December 2010. After achieving various teaching certifications from the Kodaly Institute of Australia as well as her LTCL (Licentiate) Recital Diploma, Michelle went on to study Violin Performance at Middlesex University, London and graduated with First Class Honours in Bachelors of Arts (Music) in July 2014.

Active in both teaching and performance, Michelle has performed with various orchestras and ensembles like the KLPac Sinfonietta, Anne Musikschule String Ensemble, University Putera Malaysia (UPM) Music Department Orchestra, and the Bentley Repertoire Orchestra in numerous concerts. She also performs as a pop violin soloist in many charity and private events, and was a part of the musical ensemble in the KLPac original productions Tunku the Musical and Ismail: The Last Days. In teaching, she has many years of experience as a private tutor for piano and violin, attached to various music schools around the Klang Valley. Michelle is currently teaching in the ‘Young Choral Academy’ as a choir coach for children choirs.

My son has been taking piano and guitar lessons for more than a year. He loves his teachers and I can tell that they really care about my kid too. Your music school is wonderful and I highly recommend.

I am most grateful that my son's guitar teacher not only makes learning fun and shares his knowledge, but his passion for music as well. I could not have found a better place for him to learn guitar.
